Lance Mackey is informed that there will only be drops in Old Shaktoolik.
Lance Mackey left Cripple at 2:30 this morning after completing his 24 hour rest.
Mackey was the 5th Musher into McGrath, but decides to stop to rest his team for “a few hours”.
Lance Mackey was the 4th Musher out of Rainy Pass. Shortly after, Brent Sass blew through & Travis Beals left the checkpoint in 6th place.
The 4-time champion reached Takotna where he opted to stay for an hour to grab a fresh slice of pie!
After taking a break from Iditarod, the 4-time champion is back on the Iditarod trail.
